Find the right suspense shelf
Domestic suspense, psychological thriller, police procedural, cozy mystery, classic whodunit, true crime and horror are different reader promises. 'A twist nobody will expect' is a weak genre definition. Reviewers need the protagonist, setting, central threat and tone—without the killer's identity or late reveal.
How to find crime-fiction readers
Check recent reviews in specialist crime blogs, crime-book podcasts and mystery-focused Bookstagram. Read each site's policy for indie releases, formats and content limits. A cozy reader is unlikely to want extreme violence; a horror critic should not be sent a gentle village detective story just because it contains death.
Blurb vs synopsis
A book reviewer gets a no-spoiler blurb and perhaps a brief content note; a literary agent or publisher may demand a full-spoiler synopsis, including the twist. Keep these documents separate. Label the series number and indicate whether the central case concludes in this book.

Content considerations
Give accurate warnings for extreme gore, sexual violence, domestic abuse or other major sensitive material when relevant. Avoid using trigger warnings as marketing gimmicks. Never imply a real investigative credential the author does not have.
